Inspired by the revolutionary VFX of Terminator 2: Judgment Day while studying graphic design at university, Chad Nixon shifted to computer animation and ignited a career that would eventually span multiple continents and roles, initially as a VFX Artist, then evolving to VFX Producer and finally Executive Producer for film and streaming networks.
Chad's career began in London in 1995, but quickly took him to Toronto, where he spent many years working in advertising and then in long form productions. He also spent a few years in Sydney, Australia, where he worked on the Academy Award winning Happy Feet and contributed towards the pre-production for George Miller's canceled Justice League adaptation.
Returning to North America in 2009 and after a short time spent in LA working several TV series for Discovery & Nat Geo, he joined MPC in Montreal to produce its work on Terminator Genisys, The Greatest Showman and another Academy Award winning production, Blade Runner 2049. In late 2017 he joined Cinesite to lead its work on Marvel Studios' Ant-Man and the Wasp, advancing from Executive Producer to Head of Production on shows such as Rocketman, Murder Mystery and Lost In Space S2.
Most recently Chad has been in Montreal as an Executive Producer and Global Partnerships Director, working with companies like Rodeo FX, Dream Machine and now Goodbye Kansas. Liaising with networks and studios to obtain new business and ensure the successful completion of those shows, including - Lord of The Rings S1 & 2, The Witcher S2 & 3, Shang-Chi & the Legend of the 10 Rings, Better Call Saul and The Marvellous Mrs Maisel.
His role has involved interfacing with a large network of contacts: clients, studio execs, and producers in film, streaming services and TV. With a list of clients that include: Amazon, Marvel, Disney, Netflix, Paramount, 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros, HBO, Sony, Legendary & Lionsgate.
More than two decades into his career, Chad still feels invigorated by the industry. A well-honed communicator, he sees his role as a diplomatic and supportive one. “The challenge and creativity are what initially excite you, but it’s the people… the talent and personalities that make you go to work,” he says.
